I dunno why, I always love how bottles are arranged on shelves with the light. Looks so fancy and formal.
Sushi made fresh and packaged…at your local grocery store.
Why this is meaningful: Butler PA doesn’t have sushi. Anywhere. At all.
Vietnamese noodles…maybe in Pittsburgh, but never in Butler.
Why this is meaningful: Butler PA has a 0.44% Asian population, let alone a Vietnamese restaurant…
Everything…everything…has to be spicy.
Why this is meaningful: I love different flavors of lays chips…but (not included in photo) the whole damn aisle had pepper/spicy/jalapeno chips. Welcome to the south ?

Oh…and Christmas trees the size of your house.
Why this is meaningful: My old house is the size of that tree.

This tumblog is dedicated to small, random little pictures I take whenever I see something that really makes me realize I'm not in Kansas-..er, Butler PA anymore. Who knew Houston could be so different?
I grew up in the wilds of western Pennsylvania. Daily life consisted of windy, curvy, 1-2 lane roads, driving a decent distance to a local retail store, forests, snow, and a lot of old people. You eventually got used to the natural beauty and the peaceful continuous flow of everything - nothing really changed...ever.
However, a mere few days before new years 2012, I left with my kickass fiance to a totally new world - Houston, Texas. I've visited here before, but now I'm living here. It's quite interesting to see how different this place is from home. Not a day goes by where I don't think, "I'm not in Butler anymore."

Butler, Pennsylvania is a very old country town north of Pittsburgh. Many of the photos I post may be common occurance for you, but they are a rare sight where I come from.
Consider: The nearest starbucks is over half an hour away. The most ethnically diverse restaurant we have in town is an Americanized Chinese restaurant. The largest highway is the interstate with 3 lanes. Butler is known for antiquing. We wash our cars in our yards. People drive more than 3 feet away from someone's bumper, and malls never have more than 1 floor. Ever.
